Getting to Know Jamie Mack
I was raised in Vauxhall, which is a small farming community in Southern Alberta. My father grew sugarbeets and grain and my mom was a substitute teacher when she didn't help out on the farm. I have one brother which now runs the family farm with my father. I went elementary and high school in Vauxhall and once I was finished I moved to Lethbridge to get my post secondary education with the dream of becoming a teacher.
I started at Lethbridge College and took some University transfer courses and eventually transfered over to the University of Lethbridge. During this time I was introduced to Aaron (my husband). When I was twenty I was blessed with a son (Cameron) and I ended up withdrawling from University to raise my family. Over the next few years I got married and had three more children Brant, Hayden, and Ashlyn. After several years of moving around we ended up back in Vauxhall because of a job offer my husband got in the Brooks area. After moving to Vauxhall I started working at the Vauxhall Elementary School. I worked there for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly. I got a variety of experience there and worked with many different age groups. I ran a Early Literacy Intervention program for one year, I worked in a grade1-3 split class and did AISI work with children in grades 5 & 6. I also spend a year in the Kindergarten class assisting half time and working with a student who had ADHD. This experience made me realize that I had to go back to school and get my Education Degree.
Currently I am in my PS1 at the University of Lethbridge. My children are older now Cameron is 15, Brant 13, Hayden 11, and Ashlyn is 9. I am blessed with a supportive and loving family which allow me to follow my dreams of becoming a teacher.
